The Farmers Market

I love farmers markets. We have been to the big LA one several times, but never the smaller version in our town. Every Friday, 2 blocks are shut down for the community to purchase fresh flowers, ripe veggies, yummy street vendor food, and other delicacies.

We finally checked it out a few days ago and I gotta say, it was a blast. It will be a new weekly excursion for the girls and me.

The best thing about the farmers market are the free samples. We went at lunch time and ate loads of oranges, berries, avocados, cake, hummus, cheese, and nuts. It was so much fun tasting the food that the vendors so proudly grew or prepared. You could tell they were stoked to share the best of their crops. And we were stoked to sample them.

The second best thing about the farmers market are the prices. We scored three baskets of berries for $5, 20-something oranges for $2.50, avocados for a $1, and the biggest lemon I ever laid eyes on for $.20.

It's bigger than my baby's head!

We came home and made a delicious lunch out of our fresh finds. It felt very California-ish.

My fruit bowl is out of control.
